Treatment
Treating skin cancer depends on:
-What type of skin cancer you have
-Where the skin cancer is on your body
-If the skin cancer is serious
-What stage of cancer it s
-Your health
One way to treat is to have surgery. Some surgeries are:
-Excision, to do this the dermatologist will numb the skin and cut off the skin with cancer. A large amount of excisions can be done in the dermatologist's office.
-Mohs Surgery is when a surgeon takes part of the skin cancer that can be seen, and removes it. The surgeon may also remove some skin that looks normal, but may have cancer in it. The surgery must be preformed one layer of the skin at a time. The surgeon removes the skin till their is no more cancer cells left.
-Curettage and Electrodesiccation is used to treat small basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer. To do this surgery they scrape the tumor with a curette, then use an electric needle to carefully burn the cancer cells and a little normal looking tissue. It is usually repeated three times.
